Mathura Kaliyamman Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Kali located in the village of Siruvachur in Perambalur District of Tamilnadu. Siruvachur is located at a distance of 8 Kms from Perambalur. The presiding deity of the temple is known as Sri Mathura Kaliyamman. She is one of the forms of Kali. The temple is open only on every Mondays and Thursdays. It is said to be the Kula Devta (family deity) of Kanchi Periyavar or Kanchi Shankaracharya. The Car festival & the annual Panguni festivals are important festivals celebrated with much fanfare in this Temple.

History
This temple has existed during Tamil Sangam period and that too during the 'Karpukarasi Kannaki’ of Silapathikaram fame. There are many legends associated with this temple. It is believed that the temple is very old (though not the current structure) and it was even renovated by Kulothunga Chola.
Many popular legends have been associated with this deity which does not have any written records so far. The history of temple and the goddess has been established through oral history and from stone edicts discovered in Trichy district.

Temple Opening Time
The temple remains open to devotees only twice a week – Monday and Friday. The temple will be opened at 8.00 a.m. Abishek to the deity is performed at 11.00 a.m. and adored with gold coverings. Uchi Kala Pooja will be performed at 1.00 p.m. The temple remains open till 8.00 p.m. on these days for public darshan.

Prayers
Majority of the devotees pray for wedding and child boon. It is the staunch faith of the people that solution is available from Mother Goddess for any problem as loss of things, ailments and minor bodily problems, litigations, business matters etc. The Mother is very merciful and powerful taking care of her devotees. Lighting the flour lamp (Maa Vilakku) is the main form of prayer commitment for Siruvachur Kaliyamman. This is offered for chest, hands and legs. Angapradakshinam – rolling round the temple. Devotees also perform milk abishek, pujas and organize poor feeding.

Connectivity
The Temple is located at about 10 Kms from Perambalur, 35 Kms from Ariyalur and 50 Kms from Trichy. While travelling from Chennai to Trichy, the temple’s entrance Arch is located on the right side, on the main road, after the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College. From the arch, the temple is located at a distance of around 2 kms. On Mondays and Fridays, devotees can hire auto rickshaws available near Arch to reach the temple.
There are few mini buses from the Arch to the temple, but the frequency is less. By road, all the buses between Trichy and Perambalur will stop at the Siruvachur arch. The Perambalur-bound buses start from Chathram bus stand in Trichy, which is located near the Rockfort temple (Main guard Gate). Nearest Railway Station is located at Ariyalur and Trichy. Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
